ESEA & Title I

District and School Level Parental Involvement Policies

In support of strengthening student academic achievement, each school that receives Title I, Part A funds must develop jointly with, agree on with, and distribute to parents of participating children a written parental involvement policy that contains information required by Section 1118 (Parental Involvement) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

School-Home Compact

The School-Home compact is a written agreement. It explains what schools and families can do to help students reach high academic standards of excellence. Each school receiving Title I funds is required to develop a compact. The compact serves as a clear reminder of all stakeholders’ shared responsibility to take action at school and at home so that students can attain the state’s academic achievement standards. It is a written commitment indicating how all members of a school community – principals, teachers, students, parents and other concerned community members – agree to share responsibility for improved student achievement.
