Our cross country Harvard Model Congress travelers are back from the San Francisco Conference, a bit tired, but with the experience of a lifetime.
Students on the Hoboken High School Harvard Model Congress team participated in one of the most prestigious and realistic government simulation programs in the country. Hoboken students competed for positions on the Hoboken HMC team, practiced through the fall and then traveled to San Francisco to work with Harvard University students and schools from around the globe.
This year students authored, debated and voted for bills that covered a wide range of topics including global terrorism, stem cell research, school vouchers and paternity leave. Each of our students faced adversity, exhibited growth, and overcame obstacles as they advocated for their ideas. Even though the conference had doubled in size (and competition) from last year, our team members still earned special recognition by the Harvard student team for their perseverance, insight and overall improvement.
