Middle School Band

The middle school bands are divided into novice band (6th grade) and advanced band (7th & 8th grade).  The novice band aims to bridge the gap between elementary and secondary-level performance.  Students learn the basics of articulation, dynamics, and other expressive techniques while expanding their range on their instrument.  The advanced band builds on what they learned in 6th grade, adding high school-level warm-ups and increasing the difficulty of repertoire.  The advanced band competes at the NJMEA Middle School Concert Band Festival as well as the Trills & Thrills Music Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure every other year.  In 2023,  they earned a “Superior” rating at both competitions.

Students that cannot take the band class during the school can attend rehearsals after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15pm.
